How do you fancy a very special opportunity to do some racing with an all female crew? It is great fun and very exhilarating since there are very few yachts that are raced entirely by women.
As part of the racing, we provide a training day (or two) so that, by the time we cross the start line, we are working well as a team. We don’t expect to be first across the finish line, but we will have had much fun around the course.
Cowes 2008
We will be racing Koru (our Beneteau First 36.7) for the first weekend of Cowes Week with an all female crew, following two days of training.
Join the yacht on Wednesday evening as we begin talking tactics and positions. On Thursday morning we head out into the Solent to begin our practice. Upwind sailing first and then moving onto the spinnaker. We return to our marina for Thursday evening and then have another day of practice on Friday before heading to Cowes.
Over the Saturday and Sunday we will have a 4-5 hour race around the buoys in the Solent. On Saturday evening we will be back alongside at East Cowes, from where we can easily access the social events during the evening.
On Sunday, after our race we head back to our marina at Gosport, and once safely alongside it will be time to crack open the bottle of bubbly to celebrate!
Royal Southern Yacht Club (RSYC) Ladies Race
Join the yacht on Thursday evening in preparation for a day of training in the Solent on Friday. We return to our marina for Thursday evening and then head to the Hamble early on Saturday morning for the start of the race.
After a day of racing we will stay Saturday night in the Hamble to join fellow crews in the Yacht Club. On Sunday we get to enjoy some non-racing sailing in the Solent, before heading back to our marina at Gosport by mid/late afternoon.
What is included?
The cost of our Ladies Racing includes accommodation on board your yacht, breakfasts, lunches and our now famous homemade cake. We tend to eat ashore in the evenings so that everyone can stretch their legs (this cost is not included) or you can cook for yourself on the boat if you wish.
Our yachts are generally vegetarian. Breakfasts and lunches will be warm, tasty and filling but will not contain meat! By eating ashore in the evening a non-vegetarian diet can be catered for.
The only additional cost is a proportion of mooring fees which are split between those aboard. These vary between nil- £5 per night depending on where we stay.
Upon booking you will receive your Joining Instructions which provide a suggested list of what to bring. Sailing waterproofs are an important item, whatever the time of year, as they keep you warm and dry. We have these for you to borrow, free of charge. You are likely to have most other items on the list and we encourage clients to travel light because of the limited storage room on board.
Your Joining Instructions will also detail where to find us. We sail from Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport which is easily accessed by road (it is 20 minutes from the M27 at Fareham) or by train to Portsmouth Harbour (from Waterloo).
We look forward to sailing with you!
