RYA Start Yachting Course

If you want to find out whether you might love sailing then this is the course for you! You do not need any previous sailing experience.

It provides an opportunity to be involved in handling the boat under sail and power and can be completed over a weekend (2 days).

It can then count towards your RYA Competent Crew course if you decide that sailing is for you!

The RYA Start Yachting Course runs from our base at Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport which is easily accessible by direct train from London Waterloo into Portsmouth Harbour, or by road. We are 15 minutes from the M27 motorway (junction 9) and parking at our marina is free!

Once you have completed the course your Instructor will sign your logbook to enable you to keep a record of your sea miles and syllabus completed.

On successful completion of your RYA Start Yachting Course you will also receive an official RYA certificate.

With our flexible programme, we can arrange courses to suit your individual needs.

What is included?

The cost of your RYA Start Yachting course includes:

Your accomodation on board your yacht throughout

Your breakfasts, homemade cooked lunches and our now famous cake!

All diets catered for!

Free use of sailing waterproofs (if needed) to keep you warm and dry

Use of safety gear (life jacket and safety harness) free of charge

Free parking at our marina

We eat ashore in the evenings so that everyone can stretch their legs (this cost is not included).

A proportion of mooring fees (split between those aboard) are your only additional expense.
