For many sailors, the exhilaration experienced from racing really gets the heart beating. It is great fun to be on the start line with a group of yachts all trying to be in the best position to be first across as the gun goes!

Racing involves lots of skill and tactics, but most important is the team work and camaraderie of the crew on board.

Our Programme for 2008 includes:

Cowes to Deauville Race
After a day of training we race overnight to Deauville, making the most of the local hospitality before returning the following day.

Round the Island Race
A full day of training before heading to Cowes for final preparations, for what is one of the highlights of the yachting calendar.

Cowes Week 2008
Join us for a fusion of competitive sailing and social activities.

Beneteau Cup
This race in Cowes is the Holy Grail for all Beneteau owners. Join us as we race Koru amongst other cruising and racing yachts from the same boat builder.

Womens Racing
Join us for a weekend of sailing during Cowes Week (including 2 days training) or for a Friday of training before we venture to the Hamble for club racing against other members of the Royal Southern Yacht Club.

Koru-our racing yacht
Koru is a Beneteau First 36.7 cruiser/racer. She is classy, spacious and totally gorgeous to sail. For racing she has a number 1 and number 3 carbon fibre genoa, a fully battened main sail and conventional spinnaker.

She was built in 2002 and was originally privately owned, so her condition is A1. Koru is fully coded to enable us to use her for teaching and she sleeps 6; having 3 cabins plus saloon.
