This is a great ‘hands on’ practical course if you are a beginner or fairly new to sailing with no formal qualifications .

The RYA Competent Crew Course teaches you the basic principles of sailing, as well as personal safety, to enable you to become an invaluable crew member.

The course can be completed either over five consecutive days or over a two and three day weekend.

We run this popular RYA Sailing Course throughout the year from our base at Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport which is easily accessible by direct train from London Waterloo into Portsmouth Harbour, or by road. We are 15 minutes from the M27 motorway (junction 9).

What is included?

The cost of your RYA Competent Crew course includes:

Your accommodation on board your yacht throughout
Your breakfasts, homemade cooked lunches and our now famous cake!
All diets catered for!
Free use of sailing waterproofs (if needed) to keep you warm and dry
Use of safety gear (life jacket and safety harness) free of charge
Free parking at our marina

We eat ashore in the evenings so that everyone can stretch their legs (this cost is not included).

A proportion of mooring fees (split between those aboard) are your only additional expense.

On successful completion of the RYA Competent Crew course, your Instructor will sign your logbook to enable you to keep a record of your sea miles and syllabus completed.

You will also receive an official RYA Certificate.
